pokemon-goWhen Pokemon GO was first launched, its popularity was out of this world, but fast forward a few months, and it seems that close to 80% of the game’s paying customers are no longer making purchases in the game, suggesting that the hype surrounding Pokemon GO is also on the decline, which we guess is normal.

Obviously the next move now by Niantic is to introduce new and exciting features to get players interested in the game again, and one of those features players have been asking for are player battles. Unfortunately for gamers, it seems that while the feature is definitely in the cards, Niantic does not have a specific release date yet.

In an interview with TechCrunch during the Disrupt conference, Niantic’s CEO John Hanke revealed that the company did not have a release date in mind for player battles yet. Hanke said, “Battling is something we talk a lot about. It’ll probably make its way onto the road map, but I don’t have a specific date.”

So far some of the new features rolled out include being able to appraise your Pokemon, the new Buddy system, so we guess Niantic is trying their best to keep the game relevant, but if player battles are what you want the most, it seems like you’ll be in for quite a wait.
