pokemon uraniumWhile many developers seem to be more than happy that fans are out there celebrating their games with cosplay, drawings, and so on, there are some who are particularly protective about their IPs, and Nintendo is one of them. You might recall that a fan-made Pokemon game Pokemon Uranium was launched last month.

However several days later, Nintendo shut it down. Many who were wondering about the game were told last time that the project was more alive than ever, but unfortunately that is no longer the case. The team behind Pokemon Uranium has since posted a message in which they are basically informing gamers that the game is officially dead.

The developers have stated that they are now officially ceasing development on the game, and that downloads, online services, and support will no longer be offered. We can only assume that this had something to do with Nintendo taking it down the first time, and we guess the company is well within their rights to do so.

It is a bit of a pity because the project is said to have been 9 years in the making, and it barely lasted a week before it was shut down. We’re not sure if there are plans to pick up where the team has left off, but if Nintendo were to shut that down again just as quickly, there really doesn’t seem to be a point.
