sony ps4 proThere is a bit of rivalry between console gaming and PC gaming. Some believe that PC gaming is superior simply because pretty much everyone owns a computer, plus upgrading a PC is a lot more easier and feasible than a console. However the reverse is true, which is that consoles are fixed meaning that gamers won’t have about compatibility and meeting hardware requirements.

That being said, Sony believes that the recently announced PS4 Pro has what it takes to stop gamers from switching over to the PC. Speaking to The Guardian in an interview after Sony’s PlayStation event, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s head Andrew House revealed why he thinks the PS4 Pro could prevent gamers from moving to the PC for gaming.

According to House, he said that due to the lengthy lifespans of consoles, eventually games would start to look dated which would in turn see gamers turn to the PC for bette quality graphics. “I saw some data that really influenced me. It suggested that there’s a dip mid-console lifecycle where the players who want the very best graphical experience will start to migrate to PC, because that’s obviously where it’s to be had.”

He adds, “We wanted to keep those people within our eco-system by giving them the very best and very highest [performance quality]. So the net result of those thoughts was PlayStation 4 Pro – and, by and large, a graphical approach to game improvement.” The PS4 Pro will be able to support 4K gaming thanks to its improved hardware, and judging from the game trailers we’ve seen, perhaps House might be onto something.
