It was recently reported that a Galaxy Note 2 handset started emitting smoke on an airplane for no apparent reason causing concern among passengers. That happened on a flight from India to Singapore however the plane wasn’t diverted. It has been reported in the news today that an overheating Samsung tablet has caused a Delta flight to be diverted from its final destination.

The Delta Airlines flight had taken off from Detriot and was headed to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The plane was forced to land in Manchester, England because a tablet onboard the plane started emitting smoke after it became jammed in a seat.

A Delta official revealed that the Samsung tablet first fell inside a seat and became jammed after the seat was either reclined or returned to the upright position. It was only when the tablet was wedged between the seat cover that people saw smoke coming out of it.

The plane had to be landed in Manchester, England where it spent about two hours in which the entire seat was replaced before the plane was sent on its way to Amsterdam. No further details about the incident have been revealed so far.

Samsung has not confirmed any potential battery issues with devices other than the Galaxy Note 7. It has been looking into reports of other devices burning up as well but is yet to provide a concrete statement on the matter.
