If a new report is to be believed, Sprint may have discontinued its leasing program for Android smartphones. The report comes from Wave7 Research which says that Sprint is no longer selling Android smartphones on lease. The last handset Sprint leased to customers was the Samsung Galaxy S7 and apparently even that no longer remains an option for customers who want to buy a phone on this plan.

The report mentions that even though Sprint did provide a leasing program for the Galaxy Note 5 it decided not to offer it with the Galaxy Note 7. However, no change appears to have been made to the carrier’s leasing plan for iPhones which covers all models from the 6s to the iPhone 7 Plus.

Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said last year that the carrier is going to move to a device-leasing model only by the end of 2016. It ditched two-year contracts in January this year to offer leasing but brought back the contracts just one month later.

When approached for a comment, a spokeswoman for Sprint declined to comment whether the carrier has canceled leasing programs for Android handsets, and only talked up Sprint’s equipment installment plan.

“Sprint offers $0 down (for qualified customers), interest free option on our installment billing product which is on all handsets,” she told FierceWireless, adding that the carrier is working to ensure that customers have “as many options as possible” to pay for their devices.
