Amazon launched its new Fire HD 8 tablet last month, it said that the tablet would soon receive an update which will include its Alexa, its digital personal assistant. Amazon said that it would roll out Alexa to its other Fire tablets through a software update in the near future as well. That update is now being rolled out. Those who own a recent Amazon Fire tablet can now access the Alexa digital personal assistant after updating their tablets.

Amazon is rolling out a new software update today for the 2016 Fire HD 8 as well as the 2015 Fire, Fire HD 10, and Fire HD 8 tablets. All of these models are capable of running Alexa and will do so once they’re updated to the latest system software.

Once the tablet has been updated, users can launch Alexa by pressing the on-screen home button. Almost all commands that can be used for Alexa on the Echo speakers will work, such as getting it to read audiobooks, stream music, turn on connected devices, and more.

The update also makes it possible to link a Fire tablet to the Echo. This enables Alexa to display information about a query asked on Echo on the tablet, so asking Echo about the weather will automatically launch a full weather report on the tablet.

Currently, Alexa integration is not available for Amazon’s Video app and it can’t stream music from Spotify as well, but works nicely with Pandora, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, and more. Amazon has said that it will continue to add more skills for Alexa on its Fire tablets.
