As you might have heard, at the end of the year we will be able to watch the Assassin’s Creed movie. The movie stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard and from what we have heard so far, the movie will apparently help to break video game movie stereotypes. However at the same time, it is also expected to pay respect to its video game roots.

This was revealed during a featurette of the movie which talked about the making of the film. In the video above, it shows Michael Fassbender talking about incorporating certain signature aspects of the game into the movie, such as parkour. According to Fassbender, “It was very important for us to get the parkour elements. You know, the fans are going to be looking for it.”

The movie’s director Justin Kurzel also stressed how they wanted to make the film feel as immersive as possible and to mirror the experience that players feel when they’re exploring different worlds. “We’re really determined to make the audience believe that this world and these characters exist.”

This will be accomplished by using stunt work as much as possible and forego the use of heavy CGI. Hopefully this doesn’t translate into some cheesy scene like in the Doom movie that gave us a rather cringe-worthy FPS view at one point. That being said, Ubisoft sees the movie as more of an opportunity to help market the franchise and last we heard, a sequel has already been greenlit.
