Sony’s PlayStation VR is launching with some exclusive virtual reality experiences based on the Batman and Resident Evil franchises but according to reports, it’s likely that these VR experiences will be timed exclusives for PlayStation VR. This would mean that these VR exclusives will eventually make their way to other virtual reality headsets, including but not limited to the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.

New ads for the Batman and Resident Evil VR experiences for PlayStation VR have been spotted which suggest that the experiences are going to be timed exclusives for Sony’s upcoming headset.

The ad for the Batman Arkham VR experience mentions that it will be exclusive to the PlayStation VR until March 2017. This experience has been created by lead studio Rocksteady and it also features Mark Hamill who returns as the Joker.

Resident Evil VR will allow players to play the entire Resident Evil 7 game in VR, its ad mentions that this VR experience will be exclusive to the PlayStation VR for 12 months. Resident Evil 7 is going to be released in January next year.

No further details about this platform exclusivity have been confirmed by Sony or the teams behind these virtual reality experiences. We will update you when more information comes in.
