Last week, a report was published which revealed that there were some internal issues over at BitTorrent. It was even said that the company was planning to axe its streaming service. While some of what was mentioned in that report appears to be true, BitTorrent has said today that it’s not going to shut down the service. In its statement BitTorrent has said that it “remains focused on the media space.”
The report claimed that BitTorrent’s two CEOs Robert Delamar and Jeremy Johnson had been fired. It has only become public today that Delamar is the one who has exited the company. It was mentioned in the report that BitTorrent is shutting down its office and studio in Los Angeles, the company today confirmed that the space is indeed being shut down.
BitTorrent says that it has made no changes to its platforms currently, that includes its news platform and its live video streaming service. Things may not be as bad as they were portrayed in the initial report, but it’s clear that major changes are being made at BitTorrent.
Whether or not it’s going to axe its streaming service in the future remains to be seen, the company is not giving any indication of even considering such a move right now.
