galaxy-note-7-design_27-frontWith Samsung opting to kill off production of the Galaxy Note 7, this means that we no longer expect Samsung to manufacture the device, let alone sell it. While Samsung is asking customers to return the phones, it is hardly an official recall. However it seems that is no longer the case as the CPSC has officially announced the second recall for the Note 7.

About a week ago, it was suggested that Samsung could be facing a second round of recalls. It was noted that second recalls don’t happen very often, but in Samsung’s case and the situation, it was speculated that it could take place, and sure enough it did. In a statement on the CPSC’s website, it seems that the number of incidents of exploding Note 7 handsets has increased.

The statement reads, “Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries in Note7 phones overheating in the U.S., including 23 new reports since the September 15 recall announcement. Samsung has received 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage associated with Note7 phones.”

As with the previous recall, the CPSC has urged customers who own the handset to power the phone down and to get in touch with their carrier, retailer, or Samsung, or whoever they purchased their device from for a refund/exchange.
