facebook-recommendationsSay you’re planning on travelling to a country or city you’ve never been, and you’re wondering what could be fun to do in the area, and what kind of food will be good to eat. Naturally doing some research yourself is one way to go about it, but what better way to explore a city than to get recommendations from locals or friends who have been there?

That being said, Facebook has since introduced a new Recommendations feature. Basically this involves users making a post on their Facebook page asking for recommendations in the area that they are in or are planning to visit. Friends can then make recommendations/suggestions, and those suggestions will then be marked on your map and saved, meaning that it will save you time from having to hunt down those places yourself.

According to Facebook, “When you write a Facebook post looking for advice on local places or services, you’ll have the option to turn on Recommendations for that post. If you turn on the feature, your friends can comment on your post with suggestions, and you’ll see all of them mapped out and saved in one place.”

If anything it sounds like it is more like an enhanced status update, but we also reckon that it does have some potential. The feature should be live but Facebook notes that they are only rolling it out in the US for now, so for those of you outside of the US will have to wait for it to make its way to your market.
