Facebook has taken a lot of steps over the past few years to transform itself into a bonafide online video platform. To further cement its position as one, the world’s largest social network today announced that it has now enabled a new way to watch videos from Facebook on TV. It’s now possible to stream videos from Facebook to TV using devices such as Google Chromecast and Apple TV.

Facebook videos can now be streamed to Apple TV and other AirPlay-enabled devices and to Chromecast as well as other Google Cast-enabled devices from an iOS device or a web browser. Facebook has confirmed today that users will soon be able to cast videos from Android devices to the Chromecast as well.

When a video is being streamed on the TV, users are free to go back and scroll the News Feed. They can also find more videos to watch from places like the News Feed or the Saved tab. When streaming a Facebook Live video to the TV, users will be able to see real-time reactions and comments on the screen and they can also join in themselves by reacting and commenting.

This isn’t a groundbreaking feature by any means. The world’s biggest online video platform – YouTube – has had it for quite some time now. Facebook users will just be happy that they can now watch videos from the social network on the big screen while still being able to browse it at the same time.
