Samsung’s rivals will consider the cancellation of the Galaxy Note 7 as an early holiday gift from the Korean company. It doesn’t have a brand new flagship smartphone to sell in the upcoming holiday quarter and most of them happen to have one. Famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes that half of all Galaxy Note 7 owners will eventually opt for the iPhone 7.

Many analysts are predicting that Apple will see an increase in iPhone 7 sales this year due to the fact that it’s major rival doesn’t have a new flagship to sell. Customers who want to buy a new high-end device around the holidays only have a few options, and the iPhone 7 is compelling to most people on any day of the week.

Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that 5-7 million Galaxy Note 7 customers will make the switch to iPhone 7. He also mentions that they are most likely to opt for the iPhone 7 Plus given that it has a dual camera setup on the back and has a larger display that Note 7 users are already accustomed to.

The others are expected to either opt for a Samsung device like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge or they just might opt for different manufacturers like Google, HTC, and LG. If Kuo’s predictions are believed, the iPhone 7 is going to be the biggest winner in this entire episode.

What do you think, does Apple stand to gain a lot due to Samsung’s misfortune?
