fujifilm-xf-lensesIf you’re someone who loves taking video and you own Fujifilm’s X-series of cameras and lenses, here’s a rumor that might be of interest to you. According to a source of Fuji Rumors, they claim that Fujifilm is rumored to launch “clickless” aperture lenses in 2017 that will be aimed primarily at videographers.

For those who are wondering why this is a big deal, right now the majority of camera lenses with aperture dials are “click” based. This means that every time you spin the dial, it clicks for every stop. This is handy for photographers who want to know precisely what aperture they are shooting at without having to keep glancing at the lens or the information on the screen, which some photographers might have even disabled.

However when it comes to videography, clickless is generally preferred as it allows for smoother operation and also allows for pinpoint precision to the look that they are after. In a way you could think of it being similar to manual focusing where you can adjust it and fine tune it to your liking.

Another reason is because sometimes the clicking can be a bit loud and could be picked up on the microphone, something that you obviously don’t want in your videos. It is unclear which lenses Fujifilm will be making clickless, or if they will be launching videography-specific lenses, but do take it with a grain of salt for now and hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future.
