calendars-google-mapsDo you have an event scheduled on Google Calendar? In the past if this meant that you had to go somewhere unfamiliar, you’d have to pull out Google Maps and find your way. However it seems that in the latest update to Google Maps, Google has decided to combine certain features of it Calendar app into its Maps app.

According to Google, “To ensure that your events appear on Google Maps, enter the address in the ‘Where’ box when you create an event in Google Calendar. As long as you’re signed into both Google Calendar and Google Maps, the next time you open Google Maps you’ll see your Google Calendar events right there on the map.”

Basically now you can map your way to an event directly within the Maps app based on your Calendar schedule without having to switch between apps. However as Google points out, it will require you to be signed into both services and presumably under the same account as well.

In addition, Google Maps will also be able to display upcoming events, so if you’re the sort that likes to plan their route out, this upcoming feature will help you get ahead on things. From what we can tell, this new feature seems to be exclusive to Android for now, but we expect that it could eventually arrive on iOS.
