gopro-hero-5If you are looking to get your hands on the recently launched GoPro Hero 5 camera, you won’t be able to find it on Amazon anymore. The company has recently announced that they have halted the sales of the Hero 5 on Amazon, although they claim that this is only temporary as GoPro is trying to negotiate pricing with Amazon.

If you absolutely have to purchase it on Amazon for whatever reason, GoPro estimates that sales should resume by the end of the month or possibly even in early November, which we’re guessing will largely have to do with how well negotiations with Amazon goes. Note that the camera is still available from a number of other retailers, so for those who aren’t fussy about where their cameras come from, there are plenty of alternatives.

According to Longbow Research analyst Joe Wittine, “Most likely, GoPro is temporarily, but intentionally, not shipping to Amazon following a not-uncommon pricing squabble, when a retailer lists the product below the agreed-upon floor price.” This move is also expected to cost the company quite a bit of money.

Piper Jaffray analyst Errin Murphy said that Amazon accounts for 12-14% of GoPro’s total revenue, so to cut of that much revenue for the rest of October, or possibly even into early November will no doubt amount to quite a fair amount. Others suggest that it isn’t too big a deal as October is considered a slow sales month as people are waiting for the holiday season to start shopping.
