google-search-uberEarlier this year Google started to integrate car services into Google Maps, meaning that searching for a location on Google Maps also gave users the option of hiring a car service like Uber or a cab to take them there. This save users the time from having to launch a separate app to get the same thing done.

Now it looks like Google is bringing that same service to other parts of its service, like Google Search. Announced on the Google India Blog, the company has revealed a new feature that will let users hire car services like Uber from its search results directly, and it works more or less similarly to the Maps version.

According to Google, “Just ask for directions to a place, and you’ll see a tab for ride services with fare estimates and pick up times if a car is available near you. Or you can say for instance ‘Taxi to Bangalore airport’ or more specifically ‘Uber to Bangalore airport’ or ‘Ola to Bangalore airport’.  Select a service, and we’ll take you directly to their app to book your ride with one tap.”

Note that since this service was launched in India we’re not sure if it is applicable to the US or other markets, but it is possible that eventually it will find its way to more regions in the future.
