one-handed-keyboard-iosLet’s face it, as great as the iPhone Plus models are for watching videos and playing games, more often than not they tend to be a bit too big to be used with one hand. If you have small hands then you probably know what we are talking about. Apple has tried to address that by letting users double tap the home button, but it’s not really a perfect system.

However it turns out that Apple has been considering the idea of a one-handed keyboard. Spotted by developer Steve Troughton-Smith, it seems that Apple has hidden a one-handed keyboard inside of iOS, but the bad news is that at the moment, it is inaccessible. The keyboard if implemented would be accessible by swiping in from the edge of the screen and it basically compresses the keyboard to make it more compact.

But like we said, it seems to not be activated at the moment so we’re not sure if or when Apple plans on making it available. It has been suggested that the feature has been sitting there for a while so it does not look like Apple has plans to do it anytime soon. Given that we have gone through three generations of iPhones with 5.5-inch displays, Apple should have activated the feature by now if they wanted to.

Perhaps they haven’t fine tuned it yet but either way hopefully with this attention, Apple could decide to introduce it into iOS in the near future.
