Facebook launched a new app called Lifestage earlier this year. The app is only meant for teenagers so if you’re over the age of 18, you can’t get in. Lifestage was initially released for iOS only and the company promised that it would eventually land on Android as well, and now it has. Facebook’s teen-only app Lifestage is now available for download on Android smartphones.

It’s a bit different from the main Facebook app that we all know so well. It’s actually quite similar to Snapchat when you consider the features that Lifestage offers. It places emphasis on short videos, filters, and emoji. Users have to fill their profile questions with short videos that are visible to their contacts, they have to be updated regularly or users run the risk of having a poop emoji slapped next to their name.

Given that it’s only meant for teenagers, Lifestage’s market is very limited and it’s too soon to say right now if the app has indeed caught on with savvy teens. It’s one of the many app ideas that we’ve seen from Facebook and not all of them have succeeded, anyone remember Slingshot and Paper?

Lifestage is now available as a free download for Android users from the Play Store. It requires a device running Android 4.1 and up.
