Google has effectively discontinued the Nexus program but that doesn’t mean it’s out of the hardware game. The company announced two new smartphones a few days ago called Pixel and Pixel XL. These are the first smartphones made by Google inside and out, hence the company’s emphasis on the “Made by Google” branding. To drive that point home, the company is going to open a Made by Google pop-up store in New York later this month.

Google’s biggest rivals – Apple and Microsoft – have massive permanent retail stores in New York City. Google hasn’t challenged them with a big retail space of its own but that might be a possibility down the road.

Since this is going to be a pop-up store, it’s quite likely that this will be a temporary affair. It’s unclear right now for how many days this pop-up store will be operational and which products will be sold directly to customers. Google did unveil several new products alongside Pixel, including but not limited to a smart Wi-Fi router, a smart Home speaker, and a VR headset.

The Made by Google pop-up store will be located at 96 Spring St in New York, 10012. The company’s website mentions that it’s “coming October 20.”
