oneplus_3_001It has been rumored that OnePlus could be thinking of discontinuing production of the OnePlus 3 in favor of a slightly newer handset that last we heard, could be called the OnePlus 3S. However it turns out that might not be the case because according to the latest reports, the handset could be known as the OnePlus 3T instead.

What makes this moniker particularly legit is that it was posted on Weibo by one of the company’s designers, as in he posted using the device and it got tagged. It is possible that it might be some kind of error, but given the rumors we guess we can’t say we’re too surprised if a newer handset was in the works. A mysterious OnePlus handset was also spotted at China’s CCC giving the rumors and speculation more credibility.

According to the rumors, the OnePlus 3S/3T is said to feature an upgraded processor in the form of the Snapdragon 821 and will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. We had previously heard rumors that the company could be switching from OLED to LCD, but those rumors have since been debunked by the company’s co-founder Carl Pei who reassured users that OnePlus would keep using Optic AMOLED displays for the foreseeable future.
