galaxy-note-7-s-pen_01-writingNow that Samsung has discontinued the Galaxy Note 7 and taken it off the shelves, we guess that’s pretty much the end of the phone, or is it? According to several user reports (via Engadget), it seems that Samsung has been pushing out software updates to the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge that appear to contain features from the Note 7.

For example one of the features that Samsung is bringing over is an improved version of the always-on display, which now allows for greater customization. Of course Samsung isn’t bringing every single Note 7 feature onto the S7/S7 Edge since some features will require S Pen input, but it looks like Samsung does not want some of the Note 7’s features to go to waste.

We’re not sure if this was something that Samsung planned on doing anyway in future updates had the Note 7 stuck around, but regardless we guess these are still welcome features all the same. Unfortunately the same user reports are claiming that some of the features don’t appear to be working the way they intended, but hopefully that is something that Samsung will address soon.

Given that the S7/S7 Edge are now the only high-end phone from Samsung in 2016, until the Galaxy S8 is released, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to start showing more love for the handset in the near future.
