iphone_7_sim_freeWhen Apple first launched the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, they were only available for purchase via carriers (even on Apple’s online store). This means that in some cases, you could be locked to a specific carrier or you could be locked into a contract that you might not be too pleased about. However for those of you who’d rather not be tied down, you’re in luck.

It looks like Apple has finally started to sell the SIM-free iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in the US. What this means is that you will be able to purchase the phone without being locked to any particular carrier. For those of you who are buying the phone for friends in other countries, a SIM-free version is probably what you’re after.

It will also come in handy if you travel a lot as a SIM-free version means that you should be able to swap SIM cards around pretty easily since the phone isn’t locked to any particular carrier. Of course you will still need a SIM card to make full use of the phone, but we guess a SIM-free model will give you a bit more choice.

The only downside is that you’ll have to pay full price for the phone upfront. This means that you can expect to pay $649 for 32GB of storage, $749 for 128GB and $849 for 256GB for the iPhone 7. As for the larger iPhone 7 Plus, prices will start at $769 for the 32GB model, $869 for 128GB, and $969 for 256GB. To get your hands on the phone, hit up Apple’s website for the details.
