Skype first talked about plans to modernize its call infrastructure to improve quality a few months ago and has been making improvements to the experience since. It has announced today that some additional changes to the experience will be made over the next few weeks to make calls even better. It has also decided to modernize the way users can leave a voicemail for their Skype contacts.

When a person who initiates a Skype call hangs up, the call will continue smoothly regardless of how many people leave or join the call. This means that the discussion won’t ever be interrupted even if the person who started the call in the first place says goodbye.

Skype is also simplifying how calls are made using the mobile apps. This change has landed on Android and will soon go live on iOS as well. The “Call phones” tab will now become “Calls,” providing simple and fast one-tap calls of all types, bet it Skype-to-Skype audio or video calls or those made to mobile or landline numbers. Purchasing Skype Credit is easier now as well from this tab.

Voicemails have been modernized as users can now leave a video message for a contact that’s unavailable at that time. The short video messages will be natively integrated inside the chat. Skype’s traditional voicemail delivery feature will also be available to those who want to stick with it.

All of these changes will be rolling out for Skype users across the globe over the coming weeks.
