skyrim_special_editionAre you looking forward to playing Skyrim Special Edition? Given what we’ve seen in the videos, we have to say that it almost looks like a brand new game, and considering how fun the original Skyrim was, we’re sure that many players would be more than happy to play through the game again with its new graphics.

That being said, what if you’re just trying to pick up where you left off in the original Skyrim? Will that be possible? The sad and simple answer is yes. According to the folks at PC Gamer, they have reached out to Bethesda to clarify the issue of saved games from the previous Skyrim title that was released a few years ago.

Basically both Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition are two separate games, but at the same time your saved games from the original Skyrim can be transferred over, and all you have to do is copy and paste them. According to Bethesda’s email, “Existing save games from the original PC game will work in the PC version of Skyrim Special Edition. Simply copy your old saves from My Games/Skyrim to My Games/Skyrim Special Edition.”

However this only works on saved games that are not based on modded saves, meaning that if you’ve used mods for the original Skyrim and saved those games, then those modded saves will not work with Skyrim Special Edition, so basically only vanilla saves are allowed, something to think about if you’re trying to bring in saved games.
