Fitbit-charge-2-05There are many things that can motivate someone to get in shape, and thanks to technology, there are even more ways. Fitness trackers are a good example as there are some people who might be motivated by the numbers and are looking to try and outdo themselves in terms of running time, calories burnt, distance, and so on.

According to a report, it seems that over in the UK, British soldiers have been given Fitbits in an attempt to help them get back into shape. Apparently about 18% of the Armed Forces are considered to be overweight/obese, with about 1,000 soldiers who are said to be suffering from type 2 diabetes. This is why Fitbits are given to these soldiers where hopefully with the tracking of their exercise, they will be able to get back into shape.

However not everyone is too happy about this. Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, one of their sources told them, “It’s part of a soldier’s personal responsibility to make sure he stays in shape. The Army shouldn’t be spending extra money on fancy pieces of kit to help a soldier lose weight. If he or she is too fat to fight, they should be thrown out.”

At the end of the day we guess it’s really up to the person whether or not they have the discipline and motivation to get into shape, because it doesn’t matter how hi-tech wearables are, if the person still refuses to get up and move, there’s really nothing that can be done.
