With Deadpool being a surprising smash hit, it wasn’t surprising to learn that a sequel would be made. Now the thing with sequels is that sometimes you get an entirely new team behind it, which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. For example the Saw franchise certainly seems to have lost some of its charm with the subsequent releases.

This is why you can imagine that many fans (including ourselves) were stoked to learn that the original team would be reuniting for Deadpool 2, or at least that was the dream until it has been recently confirmed that the movie’s director, Tim Miller, will no longer be directing the sequel due to apparent creative differences between Miller and Ryan Reynolds.

According to TheWrap, there was apparently a casting issue with the character Cable. Miller wanted Kyle Chandler to take up the role, but Reynolds did not, and because of Reynolds’ renegotiated contract which gave him the power to approve casting choices, he pretty much vetoed the decision.

Now as to whether or not the sequel will suffer as a result of Miller’s absence remains to be seen, but screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and still on board along with Reynolds (obviously) so hopefully it will all work out. No new director for the sequel has been named yet.
