titanfall-2One of the ways developers and publishers like to make money these days is by selling DLCs separately from the game. For example some developers choose to release new maps or new content at a later date and will charge gamers for it, as opposed to releasing it as part of a patch that will be free, which is kind of what developers used to do back in the day.

However there are some developers who are still sticking to the good old ways and it seems that this is a practice that Respawn will be employing with Titanfall 2. In a post on Respawn’s website, the developer announced that there will not be any season passes with Titanfall 2, which means that all future maps and modes will be released for free.

According to Respawn, “No Season Pass required: all maps & modes will be free in Titanfall 2 Multiplayer. This means no splitting up the community and it all starts with the legendary Angel City map, remastered from the original Titanfall. This means once you’ve purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs.”

No doubt this will sit well with gamers who are probably sick of having to keep spending money on a game after paying full price for it. Of course expansion packs are an entirely different story, but what do you guys think? Do you think it’s fair to charge gamers just for a handful of new maps?
