iphone-7-airpodWith the launch of the new iPhones, Apple also took the wraps off the AirPods, a pair of wireless earbuds that is meant to solve one of the iPhone 7’s problems: the lack of a headphone jack. Unfortunately if you recall, Apple announced towards the end of October that the release of the devices would be delayed.

At that time, the company did not provide us with a new timeframe, although it seems that if you were hoping to get a pair in time for the holidays, you could be disappointed. According to a report from the Economic Daily Times (via MacRumors), it has been suggested that Apple could only be releasing the headphones come January 2017.

According to the report, it reads, “Apple originally planned to release the AirPods at the end of October, but has postponed release. Inventec is expected to begin shipping AirPods in January 2017, the paper noted.” Apple has not stated why the AirPods have been delayed, but reviews of early units of the device have noted some issues regarding pairing as well as some manufacturing defects.

It is possible that those are isolated cases, or it is also possible that they could be bigger problems that Apple and their manufacturers have yet to solve. Either way it seems like customers will be in for a wait.
