amazon-signAmazon’s Prime membership costs $99 a year, which we guess can be thought of as pricey for some users. However there are numerous benefits to subscribing to Prime, such as faster/free shipping, access to other services like Prime Video, Prime Music, Photos, and so on, so in reality it’s like a bundled service that costs $99 a year.

However if you can’t bring yourself to spend $99, not to worry because for one day only, Amazon will be discounting its Prime membership by $20, bringing it down to a slightly more affordable $79 a year. This is a one-day-only offer that will kick off at 12AM on the 18th of November, which is this Friday, and will run until 11:59PM PT.

Note that the discount only applies to the first year of your Prime subscription, meaning that when it renews the next year, it will go back to $79. We can only assume that Amazon is hoping by then you’d have realized all the benefits of having a Prime subscription and will keep your subscription. However if you’d rather not pay $99, then you’ll have to remember to cancel your subscription before it renews itself.

Also this seems to be applicable to new subscribers, so if you’re already subscribed you will continue to pay $99 and will not be getting the discount. That being said, with Amazon’s Black Friday deals expected to run an entire month, perhaps it’s not such a bad idea to subscribe to it.
