apple_musicIs Apple Music too expensive for most customers? At $9.99 a month it’s pretty standard as far as music streaming services are concerned, but could it be cheaper? According to a report from Digital Music News (via AppleInsider), Apple is apparently mulling the idea of a 20% decrease in price for the music subscription service.

What this means is that if the price is indeed reduced, customers can look forward to paying $7.99 a month instead of $9.99, and family plans will also be made cheaper dropping from $14.99 to $12.99, both of which are significant drops in price. Prior to the launch of Apple Music, it was rumored that Apple wanted to make the service cheap, but apparently the labels weren’t biting.

However with the launch of Amazon Music Unlimited which starts at $4 a month, decreasing the price of Apple Music would certainly help make it more compelling for customers. It is unclear when Apple will make such an announcement, but the report claims that it could be announced as soon as December as part of a holiday promotion.

Take it all with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll get a confirmation (or a denial) in the near future. In the meantime for non-Apple Music subscribers out there, does a drop to $7.99 make it a more attractive offer?
