apple-watch-5kThanksgiving is around the corner which means that you can look forward to huge feasts with friends and family members. As much as you’d love to diet, chances are with all the food that is being passed around it would be pretty hard to resist. After all it is only once a year, right? However Apple has a plan to help you work it off.

It has been recently discovered that for the Apple Watch, there is a special Thanksgiving Activity Challenge achievement that users can earn. This contextual achievement is a brand feature to the Apple Watch that we did not know about, and it could be a sign of things to come. For this particular achievement, users will have to run or walk 5K (3.1 miles) on Thanksgiving itself.

According to the message that Apple Watch wearers are receiving, “Earn this special achievement on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th when you complete a walk, run or wheelchair workout of at least 5K (3.1 mi) in the Apple Watch Workout app, or any app that records these workouts into the iPhone Health app. You’ll also earn a special Messages app sticker!”

Users can log it on the Workout app or other apps as long as it integrates with HealthKit. Once they have completed it, the achievement will be recorded. Note that this is only applicable on Thanksgiving, so if you miss out on it that’s too bad, although chances are there could be another one next year. It would also be a good excuse to walk off all the turkey and pies and other foods you would have eaten.
