Apple’s products aren’t exactly cheap but if you want to give one as a Christmas gift perhaps you would rather spend $300 on a book instead of more than $1,000 on a new MacBook Pro. Apple’s latest product is a $300 book which basically contains pictures of its past products. The book has been announced today, it’s going to go on sale tomorrow through select Apple retail stores as well as the company’s online store tomorrow.
For $300 you get a hardcover book bound in linen. It’s actually available in two sizes. The 10.20″ x 12.75″ version costs $199 while the 13″ x 16.25″ costs $299. It’s just called Designed by Apple in California.
The Designed by Apple in California just contains images that showcase 20 years of Apple design “in a deliberately spare style,” according to the press release the company has sent out today. All of the pictures in the book have been shot by Andrew Zuckerman.
Apple’s design czar Jony Ive describes the book as “a gentle gathering of many of the products the team has designed over the years,” he hopes that it’s going to serve as a “resource for students of all design disciplines.”
Apple has published this book itself and dedicated it to the memory of its late co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.
