Professional gamers spend thousands of dollars creating the perfect rig because the components that an average user has in their computer just doesn’t cut it for them. That’s why you have companies making products like gaming mice, keyboards, and monitors to fulfill the needs of that particular group of users. BenQ is out with a new monitor today which it says is optimized for e-sports.

BenQ’s Zowie XL2540 monitor boasts an ultra-fast 240Hz refresh rate. Since this monitor is meant for e-sports, the focus here isn’t really on the image quality or the resolution. It’s about the speed and accuracy with which the images are displayed.

So while other professional gaming monitors might offer 2K or even 4K resolution, BenQ’s new monitor only has a full HD 1080p display. This is a conscious choice to meet the requirements of professional e-sports gamers who demand low-latency refresh rate from their monitors. For them, a delay of just milliseconds between display refreshes can be the difference between winning or losing.

The Zowie XL2540 offers decent connectivity options. It features two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort and four USB ports. BenQ hasn’t confirmed the price or release date of this monitor just yet but it’s going to show off the Zowie XL2540 at the DreamHack Winter conference later this month.
