blackberry-priv-review_ubergizmo_07About a month ago, BlackBerry launched the DTEK50 and DTEK60, which are basically the company’s last phones, or at least that’s what we thought. However in a recent interview with Bloomberg, BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen revealed that they had one more phone up their sleeves in the form of a keyboard phone aimed at their long-time fans.

Speaking to Bloomberg’s Emily Chang, Chen said, “We have one keyboard phone I promised people. It’s coming.” Now in case you haven’t heard, BlackBerry announced back in September that they were quitting the hardware business. This basically means that they’ll no longer be developing their own phones. Instead the company will be choosing to focus more on the software side of things.

Many had assumed that the recently launched DTEK50 and DTEK60 would be the company’s last two devices, but Chen had previously said that was not the case. Now it seems that in this interview he has cleared it up by saying that they have at least one more phone left to launch. Rumors of a QWERTY BlackBerry phone have been floating about for a while now.

In October a certain “Mercury” handset was spotted on Geekbench, and given that BlackBerry has in the past switched between releasing phones with full touchscreens and phones with keyboards, we guess it was only a matter of time. Unfortunately there is no date on when the next phone will be released.
