x-men-apocalypseWhile Fox might have helped kicked off the superhero movie craze in 2000 with the X-Men movie, it seems that in the recent years, Marvel’s own superhero movie efforts have yielded more success. Fox’s X-Men movies on the other hand have been a mixed bag of reviews. For those hoping that Fox would get it right like Marvel did, there is some good news.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that Fox could be considering rebooting the X-Men movie franchise. This is based on their sources who told them that Simon Kinberg, who oversaw the franchise as a producer and writer, is working on a new script. Bryan Singer who was responsible for directing a good majority of the X-Men movies will not be returning.

It also seems that Fox has come to the end of the contract that they had signed with their major stars, like James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult, and apparently trying to re-sign them would be an expensive endeavor. Let’s not forget that Hugh Jackman is also supposedly done as the upcoming Wolverine-based movie “Logan” is expected to be his last.

We guess a reboot of the franchise in a new direction with a new director wouldn’t be the worst idea, although this would also mean that it would lack a certain continuity and investment by fans that Marvel has managed to achieve with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but what do you guys think? Yay or nay on the reboot?
