Even if you do watch anime or read manga casually, there’s a good chance that you’ve probably heard of some of the more famous ones, like Fullmetal Alchemist, for example. While the anime and manga have pretty much ended, it seems that there is a live-action movie in the works and the first trailer has since been released.

The trailer shows off some of the signature aspects of the original series, such as transmutation circles, and we are also introduced to the protagonist of the series, Edward Elric who is being played by Japanese actor, Ryōsuke Yamada. Other characters that are expected to make it into the movie include Winry Rockbell who will be played by Tsubasa Honda, and Colonel Roy Mustang who is played by Dean Fujioka.

Fullmetal Alchemist isn’t the first anime or manga series to be made into a live-action movie. In recent times we were treated to the likes of Rurouni Kenshin (also known as Samurai X in some markets) and Attack on Titan. Let’s not forget that there is also the upcoming Ghost in the Shell movie starring Scarlett Johansson.

The Fullmetal Alchemist movie is expected to see a release in Japan in 2017, but no specific dates have been mentioned yet. In the meantime who else is looking forward to it?
