galaxy-j5-explode2016 is definitely not a great year for Samsung. While they might have started out the year strong with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, things definitely started to go downhill a few months ago when the Note 7 handsets around the world started to explode and catch on fire. Earlier this month Samsung was also forced to recall 2.8 million washing machines due to it potentially falling apart during use.

Now according to a report out of France (via CNET), it seems that a woman had her Galaxy J5 smartphone explode on her. Lamya Bouyirdane told the Associated Press that she noticed her phone was extremely hot to the touch and had expanded with smoking pouring out of it. She then threw it to the ground where it caught on on fire, with the back portion of the device blowing clean off.

She is also claiming that she plans to sue Samsung as her son was the one holding the device moments before it exploded. In a statement made to CNET, Samsung said, “We are unable to comment on this specific incident until we obtain and thoroughly examine the device. Customer safety remains our highest priority and we want to work with any customer who has experienced an issue with a Samsung product in order to investigate the matter and support them. The issues with the Galaxy Note7 are isolated to only that model.”

We have to agree with Samsung on this in that the Note 7’s problems are its own, as so far apart from a few isolated incidents here and there, the rest of Samsung’s lineup seems to be fine. Bouyirdane has said that she bought the phone off the internet, so there are a number of reasons as to why it could have exploded which might not be Samsung’s fault to begin with it.
