game of thronesAll good things must come to an end, and HBO had confirmed earlier this year that Game of Thrones will come to an end after Season 8. What does this mean once the series is ended? The good news is that you might be able to expect more content in the form of a Game of Thrones prequel series.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys said that there are talks regarding a potential prequel series. When asked how the prequel talks are going with the series’ author George R.R. Martin, Bloys said, “I would say it’s still kind of preliminary, ongoing talks. There are areas we are exploring but I wouldn’t point to any one and say this is what we’re going to do.”

This is by no means a confirmation that there will be a prequel series, but it is encouraging to learn that there are at least talks, which means that as slim as it might be, we could be looking forward to new video content in the future. That being said, Martin has yet to conclude the series in book form.

The author is still working through his latest book in which the release date has yet to be set, so even if we don’t get a prequel, not to worry since there is always the books to turn to if that’s what you’re after.
