Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe came along, we had movies like Spider-Man produced by Sony, and also the X-Men movies produced by Fox. These movies were pretty decent for their time, although ever since Marvel started to take more control, things have certainly gone to the next level.

So the question is, with Marvel working with Sony on the upcoming Spider-Man movie, does that mean we can expect a similar partnership with Fox on X-Men movies? The simple answer for now is no, at least that’s according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in a recent interview with Variety.

When asked if a partnership was possible like with what Marvel did with Sony, Feige answered by saying, “It’s an impossibility at this juncture. We certainly have enough films to keep us busy for a number of lifetimes.” Note that he says “at this juncture”, meaning that the door has not been completely closed. However if and when a partnership happens is really anyone’s guess for now.

Perhaps with Deadpool’s success under Fox’s belt, maybe they don’t really see the need for a partnership at the moment. In the meantime we have learnt that a reboot of the X-Men movie franchise is being considered.
