marvel-capcomIf arcade fighting games are something that you grew up playing, there’s a good chance you might have come across the Marvel VS Capcom series, or at least one of the many iterations of such mashups. The good news is that there is a good chance that we could looking at a fourth installment in the franchise.

According to a report from Polygon, they have heard from their sources that apparently Marvel VS Capcom 4 is expected to be officially unveiled this coming weekend at the Capcom Cup  tournament during the PlayStation Experience. They are also reporting that with this particular title, they are expected to focus more on the Marvel films rather than drawing from the comic books.

This means that we can expect to see more characters from the movies being brought into the video game. Prior to this the franchise had many characters from the comics, so it will be an interesting change of pace to see them bring in the likes of The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and so on.

We’re not sure if the licensing issues will affect the characters available, like the whole X-Men and Deadpool franchise being licensed to Fox, while Sony owns Spider-Man, and Marvel/Disney everything else. Take it with a grain of salt, but do check back with us this weekend where hopefully there’ll be more details to be had.
