android n night modeWhen Google released the Android 7.0 Nougat developer preview, one of the features was Night Mode which was supposed to help reduce the amount of blue light emitted from our phone’s screen. However with the public release, the feature was removed. Instead it seemed that only Google’s new Pixel phones had the feature in the form of Night Light.

The good news is that Google could be considering bringing the feature back to Nexus handsets. Why is this? When Nexus users found that the feature was removed, some of them took to Google’s Issue Tracker to report the missing feature as a bug/issue. It was launched on the 20th of October but it has since been marked as a Future Release issue to be addressed.

This means that this is something that Google will be taking a look at. Whether or not Google will actually go ahead and reintroduce the feature is an entirely different story, but we guess there is a glimmer of hope that they will see how many users want it, and based on that they will bring it back.

It has been previously suggested that due to the hardware drivers, the older Nexus handsets were incapable of handling the feature, hence the removal. We’re not sure how true that is but Samsung is already introducing the feature to their own smartphones, so hopefully Google will do the same for their Nexus handsets as well.
