oneplus_3_001With the launch of the OnePlus 3T, many are probably wondering with the incremental upgrades over the OnePlus 3, what will become of the device? Will it be discontinued? Marketed as a more affordable handset? According to OnePlus the other day, the company stated that the phones would be restocked, hinting that it would not be discontinued.

However that doesn’t really seem like the case anymore. According to the folks at Android Authority who reached out to OnePlus for confirmation, it seems that they were told that the OnePlus 3 will be discontinued for the US and European markets. What this means is that other markets, such as Asia, will still have the phone, but it will no longer be sold in the US or Europe and that there are no plans to bring it back.

Like we said, the OnePlus 3T isn’t that big of an upgrade and the price differences aren’t that great either, meaning that the OnePlus 3 is currently in a rather weird position. It is not surprising that OnePlus would rather focus on the OnePlus 3T, so if you haven’t managed to get your hands on the OnePlus 3 yet, it seems that you will no longer be able to. You could try your luck at retailers outside but there are no guarantees.
