Spotify might be known by many as a music streaming platform. However it seems that the company wants to be more than just an app that you run in the background, they want you to be engaged with its app all the time. So much so that the company has recently announced the launch of their original animated series called “Drawn & Recorded”.

Featuring Academy Award winner and 13-time Grammy®-Award winning producer, artist and songwriter, T Bone Burnett, basically it’s an animated series that narrates the stories of some of music’s most legendary musicians. “Through fantastical animation, set to the evocative narration of Burnett, viewers will journey along as the series reveals how Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister got the best of his former bandmates who tried to betray him and see rapper ODB recast as a superhero/guardian angel and much, much more.”

There will be a total of 10 episodes, with each episode featuring a different artist. The series will cover a variety of genres, such as grunge with an episode about Kurt Cobain. There will also be a jazz episode featuring Louis Armstrong, then we also have rock with Motorhead’s Lemmy, and we also have rap with ODB.

The series won’t run that long as the entire “season” can be watched in under 30 minutes. They will be available for viewing via Spotify’s apps on mobile and on the desktop, so do check it out if you are interested. In the meantime you can check out the promo trailer above, or see below for the Kurt Cobain episode.
