If you love your Sonos speakers but aren’t that happy with its apps, perhaps you might want to take a look at Spotify Connect. It’s finally possible to control Sonos speakers from inside the Spotify app, do keep in mind though that this feature has only been rolled out in beta for now, so there are bound to be a few bugs that need to be ironed out but you should get an idea of how Sonos control works through the Spotify app.

This doesn’t mean that Sonos is going to do away with its app. The company’s own app will remain but it’s now offering users more ways to control the speakers.

Sonos was actually supposed to release this feature last month but it has only launched it just now. It’s a big integration for Sonos as it gradually opens up its hardware to third-party functionality amid strong competition from a plethora of connected Bluetooth speakers.

Users who sign up for the Sonos public beta will be able to control their speakers using the Spotify app. It’s capable of controlling both multi-room and multi-speaker Sonos setups. The app will also enable users to have their friends queue songs and playlists from their own Spotify app. It surely doesn’t get easier than this.
