watch dogs 2A lot of games follow heavily-scripted plans which is not a bad thing as sometimes this can tell a great story. However it seems that moving forward into the future, Ubisoft doesn’t want their games to be so scripted anymore. Instead they want the choices of gamers to have a bigger impact on how the story plays out, as opposed to the story influencing their choices.

Speaking to Le Monde (as translated by GamesIndustry.biz via IGN), Ubisoft’s chief creative officer Serge Hascoet said, “For the next Assassin’s Creed, the designers have created a system in which what I do not only has meaning just now, but also long-term. My actions will change the world.”

We guess we could have sort of seen this coming because Ubisoft does seem to be leaning towards open world kind of games, like the first Watch Dogs and the recently released Watch Dogs 2. It will be interesting to see how Ubisoft will apply this concept to Assassin’s Creed, although right now we’re not sure when the game will be released.

Last we heard, it seems that Ubisoft has decided that they will not be releasing a new Assassin’s Creed title this year, and that they will be “stepping back” to re-evaluate the franchise. This means that the annual release of the game is off the card, meaning that we could see it launch either in 2017 or maybe even 2018.
