BlackBerry Priv owners on Verizon can start to get excited about receiving a new major software update. It appears that Big Red might soon release the much-awaited Marshmallow update for the BlackBerry Priv on its network. The carrier itself hasn’t confirmed anything at this point in time but there are signs with suggest that the update might be released in the near future.

At least one user is reported to have received the Marshmallow update from Verizon over the past couple of days. It could be that the carrier is going to start the roll out in the near future, but it’s also possible that the update was sent out in error, that possibility can’t be discounted as well.

BlackBerry Priv owners on Verizon who try to manually check for an update on their device are currently receiving the “Unable to connect” message when checking for updates. Moreover, the carrier is yet to update its software update for the device which still doesn’t reflect that Marshmallow is rolling out for the Priv.

Some waiting still might be involved for Priv owners on Verizon because it’s possible that this was just a small soak test before Big Red properly releases Marshmallow for the Priv. We’ll update you when that happens.
