Capcom had promised to continue releasing new characters for Street Fighter 5 once this title was released and it has been following through on this promise. It has now confirmed that Akuma is the next new character for Street Fighter 5. Akuma is going to be released for Street Fighter 5 later this month. Capcom is also going to provide a new season pass that players can pre-order to get Akuma as well as five additional new characters that will be released in the future.

“Akuma returns to Street Fighter 5, displaying his mastery of Ansatsuken and while he has become burlier than previous games, he possesses quick footwork and devastating combos,” Capcom says.

Akuma first made an appearance in this franchise with Street Fighter 4. The character has received some cosmetic changes since its first appearance but he continues to wear his traditional dark blue Gi.

The character also retains his classic moves such as the air fireball while the dive kick gets an EX version that starts with a somersault which inflicts damage to the enemy if it connects. The super moves include Raging Demon and a version of the Misogi, a move that Akuma previously used in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Akuma is going to be released for Street Fighter 5 on December 20th. The 2017 Character Pass is also going to go on sale that day for $29.99 which provides access to this character as well as five additional characters due in 2017.
