Thinking of getting yourself an Apple Watch in time for the holidays? If you are, you probably shouldn’t have left it to the last second because it has been noted that the Apple Watch Series 2 has been sold out ahead of Christmas. This means that either you’ll have to find a new gift, give it as a belated present, or try your luck at third-party resellers.

As you can see in the screenshot above, it seems that trying to purchase the Apple Watch Series 2 online you’ll only receive it early January, 2017. Trying to pick it up in the store will not  yield any different results. In fact the screenshot above also shows that you’ll have to wait until January 2017 to get it.

We’re not sure what’s with the shortages, but it does seem to indicate that a lot of people are getting the Apple Watch Series 2 for Christmas presents, or are giving it away as presents. Either way this is probably good news for Apple, especially when you consider that the company’s market share in the wearables space is rather low.

A report from earlier this month revealed that Fitbit is the current market leader with a market share of 23%. Xiaomi and Garmin are actually ahead of Apple who only commands 4.9% of the market, down from 17.5% the same quarter last year.
