You might recall that Apple decided to discount the various adapters that it sells to make it easier for people who picked up one of its new products to hook them up to some of its other products. Apple decided to offer the discount on adapters after it launched the new MacBook Pro in October. The company has now decided to extend its discount on adapters for several months.
The new MacBook Pro is different from its predecessor in more ways than one. It features a multi-touch display in place of the function key row but that’s not something which will irk users, the fact that it only comes with USB-C ports will.
USB-C is undoubtedly the next-generation standard of USB and it’s going to be on almost every device within a few years but it’s not that common right now. Even iPhone owners can’t connect their smartphones to their new MacBook Pros right now without buying an adapter first. The built-in Lightning to USB-A cable doesn’t work with the new notebooks.
Hence you can see the reason why Apple decided to discount the adapters in the first place. Apple said that the discounts were being offered to make the transition easier for its customers and also accelerate the growth of this new ecosystem. It has now decided to extend this discount until March 31st, 2017. You can purchase the discounted adapters from Apple’s online store as well as through its retail stores.
